Gosh I had no clue at that age of nine how to cross streets what is 
reading traffic things like that.
I just walked with who took me at the time.
Unless he came from blind parents, or a set of parents that would say 
yes you can do this.
then to have a school take on teaching traveling, my goodness.
Glad he is still a dog user even now.
