I'd venture a guess that it is their breeding program.  If they are breeding 
more yellows they'll get more yellows.  If they breed black with yellow 
they'll end up with more blacks.   Although I'm also assuming that their 
breeding choices aren't based on color, but that it just ended up that the 
yellow dogs had the traits they wanted to keep in the lines.

And that is the sum total of what I know about genetics! LOL
