Yeah, I know people like that. Sigh. My family included, though I am way
past being hurt by them. I am fortunate to have great friends who fill in
the role of emotional support and the like. Every now and them my roommate
will respond to my plan to go larking off with my dog with a profound and
resounding silence. /smile/ He will then carefully suggest that I be very,
very careful, followed by more silence... Then he will start suggesting
safety precautions. /grin/ He respects me enough not to interfere with my
independence, but sometimes I think it just scares the willies out of him.
Poor fellow! /smile/

It is difficult to grow and expand your horizons as learn to meet new
challenges and overcome them and pass milestones when you don't feel
supported by the people you value most. Sometimes the fact that they value
you and care for you as much as you do them makes it even more difficult for
them to show their support when they're also worried or having to make their
own emotional adjustments to changes in your life.

I don't know that there's anything to be done about it except to continue to
communicate until she is ready to accept.

ya, it is crazy because when I say something to my grandma for example about

the dog, she has no reply. Do you know anyone like that? I mean she has
nothing to say about it. You know, I want to hear something like, your
doing a great job. Or some I am very proud of you. You know something like

that. That hurts when I don't hear it from my family.
