[nagdu] crate training

Ioana,

I don't think you've messed anything up! I think you're on the right
track. the thing is to make the crate a positive experience and gradually
increase the amount of time he stays in there. How you do that is all up to
you.

Some ideas:
feed him his meals in the crate
give him special chew toys or bones in the crate
c/t when he's in the crate, delay the c/t gradually
put his bed in the crate

I'd wait until after he is comfortable with being in the crate for a bit
before starting shutting the door. When starting the process of closing the
door, decrease the time to where you started. So if he's cool with being in
the crate for 10 minutes with door open, close the door partway and have him
stay put for 15 seconds. If that goes well next time shut the door partway
and increase to 30 seconds and so on. This sounds like it will take
forever, but really it doesn't. The majority of the training is taken up
with the baby steps in the beginning. Once he gets the idea that the crate
is awesome it will go very quickly.

HTH
Julie
