Jennifer,

I don't think any two people have the same experience when they first meet
their new guide.

I train my own guides, so my experience is a bit different. I looked at a
lot of dogs before deciding on Monty. When I first met him, I was going
through a lot of check lists in my mind. I had a specific sort of dog that
I was looking for and wanted to make sure that he would fit in with what I
had in mind.

When I first met him, he ran around the room like a lunatic, grabbed a couch
pillow, sniffed everything, wagged like crazy, greeted all the people in the
room and was generally a typical puppy. He was cute, amusing and I did
immediately like him. However I did not feel any sort of deep bond or
attachment to him until later.

Everyone is different though.

HTH
Julie
