Not only do people pet your dog anyway, they do so while reading the sign. Nah. I haven't found the sign very useful at all, either. I agree with others: control what you can control (i.e. your dog and its reactions). You'll never stopp people from petting your dog without asking, so do the best you can with your dog's reactions to it.
