Elizabeth I love this from your note:
My feeling is this: If people are going to look at us because we stand
out with our dogs and canes, I want to stand up, stand straight, step
out, and give 'em something great to see!

I've got a couple of themes to address, so that's why the omnibus title.

Rebecca, I've put your e-mail address into my Address Book, so you
should be
able to get through to me off list without being caught in my Earthlink
SPAM
catcher. Please try again. I look forward to your note.

Lyn, a pencil skirt is the bottom half of a woman's business suit. It's
a
straight skirt that harkens back to the fifties, but can be a bit more
curvy
and kicky. It can have a pleated hem or a couple of kick pleats forming
a
panel in the front, alternate to the traditional kick pleat in the back.

It's not a mini, but not for holding a dog between the knees. I wear
fuller
skirts often, too. But Hilary Clinton's pants suits notwithstanding,
there
are just times when a woman has to wear a skirted business suit to the
office.

This brings me back to thinking about that very interesting topic we all

discussed a while back, talking about colored harnesses--the stunningly
beautiful, fashionably turned out, and poised beyond belief blind woman.
My
feeling is this: If people are going to look at us because we stand out

with our dogs and canes, I want to stand up, stand straight, step out,
and
give 'em something great to see!

Lastly, thanks to all of you who had such good suggestions about
managing
our guide dogs on those dirty busses!

Still whistling for that taxi,

Elizabeth
