Hi Tracy,

I'm normally a lurker--not a guide dog user--but I have some information about this that might be important. One of the retired guides who lives with me has diabetes insipidus, which is totally different from diabetes mellitus. It began just as you're describing and was extremely difficult to diagnose and very difficult to figure out how to treat. Most, if not all, of the information on the web about how to treat nsipidus in dogs is dead wrong. Contact me about this off list if you'd like more information about this.
