I will be taking the same train as I did last time on Friday. I will be
making sure that doesn't happen again. It's odd that I had that problem
since I never had that problem with my first dog. Friday that definiltey
won't happen next time. I will let you know what happens and odd thing is
that most of the crew knows who I am since I am on that train a lot and I'm
really surprised that that happened.

Jordan,

Years ago, Amtrak tried the same thing with me regarding the dining car. I
remained at the dining car entrance with my guide and asked for the
supervisor with whom I discussed the law regarding guide dogs. The result
was apologies and a reversal such that I went in with my guide and ate
dinner. You must not ever once let them get away with disobeying the law or
it makes everything more difficult for all guide dog users. At least that is
my experience. Amtrak staff do know better. Guide dogs are not a new
invention, and Amtrak has blind guide dog users among its employees. I hope
that you will look for ways to enforce the laws that protect all guide dog
users while remaining polite and professional. The law is on our side but it
is only as good as our determination to protect it.

Interested in your response.

Hello,

I am just now getting around to joinging this list. I live in Louisiana and
have been a guide dog user for over 4 years. One question, what do you did
if a Greyhound driver refuses to let you on the bus or insists that you go
to the back of the bus? The latter I promptly took care of by sitting down
and not moving and then getting a hold of Greyhound once I got to where I
was going. I had an issue the last time I road Amtrak where I was denied
access to the dining car. What do I do in that situation, and I sent a
lengthy e-mail to them, but no response as of yet.

Thanks,

Jordan Gallacher
