no there aren't, just stick to your guns and know you rights, I live on Long Island where I use Macarthur Airport, 5 minutes away from me they have southwest and USAIR, I have never had issues with either one of them, basically for one Guide Dog Foundation takes there students there during every class to go through security training. So they see blind people and service dogs all the time.

I avoid JFK or LaGuardia if I can possible do so. 

So not one is better than the other, I have used in the past a few kiosks at other airports that are not united, basically never needed to use them yet, and they are okay, but getting better.

If you remember to print out your boarding pass online, if accessible or if you have a good travel agent like myself who can print them out and possibly fax them to you if you have access to a fax, or other ways of sending it.
