[nagdu] Cleaning Ears

Hi I have used Hydrogen peroxide for 14 years on my guides.  Knock on wood,
none of my dogs ever had any ear problems.  I use cotton balls and then wipe
with a dry cotton ball.  After we're done, I take a clean damp warm cloth to
clean those bunny ears.
I will ask the vet if vinegar is better.  Thanks for listing that. I know
that years ago, someone also used a squeeze bottle with a solution... I may
try that.  Andy

I use half white vinegar, half water in a bottle that used to hold
commercial ear cleaner.  I squirt it into the dog's ear, hold and massage
the ear vigorously for 30 seconds or so, then release.
She shakes it out.
If I have any doubts as to whether it's dry enough, paper towel works just
fine.

My Rhoda has had one ear infection in her five and a half years with me.
That was when I learned the technique I now use.  In the summer, we clean
ears 2-3 times a week; in the winter, once a week.
No further problems.
You can't beat it for cheap!

Hello All
Today I went to the vet because saunders is scratching his ears a lot. he
has a severe ear infection. I use an ear cleaner from petco but just do not
like the pasty feeling it gives my hands and how it makes his ears smell.
The vet said it looks like I do not dry his ears good enough maybe and when
I showed him what I use he said he does not recommend it. Does anyone have
any good ear cleaner suggestion and also can people give suggestions of how
to get the ears nice and dry after cleaning? Thank you. After this ear
cleaner medication ends in a week or 2 and switching him. Love what gdb used
so might call them to and find out what they used.
