[nagdu] Spring fever? Where?

I don't know if there are others on this list or not. I gotten hurt more using a cane than I have with a dog only once with a dog and it wasn't his fault there was ice all across the sidewalk and no real way to get around it. I'll take a dog any day of the week over a cane.

Now that ou've mentioned it, do we have other Pilot Dog grads on this list?
I've been wondering about that off and on myself. When I was looking into
programs, Pilot was one program that got my interest because they were
producing some of the non-standard breeds I was interested in, while GDB was
phasing out both their poodle and shepherd lines. I was pretty clucless
back then about how to choose a program and what my options were and so
forth, now that I think about it. Anyway, I had planned to complete the
application process with Pilot while I was doing the living skills program
at our state agency's headquarters... Which turned out to be exactly
opposite of what was advertised! Well, the do use the phrase "hands on
training" in their literature. It's just that one does not expect that to
mean the kind of "hands on" the client in a way that causes physical
injuries require a long rehabilitation process and lots of extra medical
expense. Then there was the mentally ill roommate in the apartments; I had
come from across the state back then, so that was a bummer and I nearly
ended up dead. I guess that list of policies and procedures for the
apartments was another bit of opposite information... So I nedded up nearly
dead and had to put off applying for guide dog school, since I ended up too
ill for the foreseeable future to survive the first day of training. Sigh.
But I also had those new nifty injuries to the muscles and tendons of my
arms and wrists and hands, which using a cane exacerbaated something awful,
so I needed a guide dog to get around to do the walking I needed to do to
recover physically... Solution? Dog! I weighted my choice towards guide
dog prospect, figuring if it didn't work out as a fully working guide, it
could get me around in the great outdoors and to the dog park for much
walking and socializing while we had fun together.
So no Pilot Dogs for me then, only I do often wonder about grads from the
program. It's good to meet one again!

Hi I'm up drinking tea so thought I would respond. When I got my first dog,
I was way overweight I knew nothing about pilot dogs but they were willing
to give me the chance to try even though I was a really slow walker and I'm
so glad they did. I love using a dog. Thanks my rowdy guys are fun.
