Lisa, you cracked me up.  As a parent myself, I think you summarized
perfectly.  Personally, I'm usually quietly pleased when circumstance
gives me the chance to teach my kids self restraint and the law of
"you can't have everything you want."

Also, let me add mine to the chorus of voices and say that we have
every right to refuse others when they ask to pet our dogs, no matter
how entitled the parents think they are.
