Marion, to answer your question, I never encountered a situation like the
article that started the thread. 
I do know what I'd do in such a situation especially if my child was
involved. I think, especially for moms, this is a primal thing "My child
needs something, and this dog is keeping me from obtaining that" 

I also think that men view this issue very differently at least on a gut
level. 

I'll go a step further and say that men want the problem fixed, women are
the healers

It's a different mindset as well as a different implementation.

Exactly.  And sometimes a person on list may have had to stop using dogs for
whatever reason.
