[nagdu] Keepping Retired Dogs

I think keeping retired guides is a really personal choice that depends a lot on one's circumstances. I was able to keep my first guide after she retired, but I don't think that will work out so well when it comes time to retire my current dog. Their personalities are so different, as are their needs. The Rachel dog wasn't super clingy. She was willing to bond with my partner, and settled into retirement very nicely. Caroline, on the other hand, sticks to me like velcro. She doesn't do well when she's not with me, and it takes her a really long time to bond with new people, especially if I'm around. Plus, my living situation is such that a retired guide, plus a working guide, plus a cat wouldn't work out at all.
