Jeff,
All you have to do is show proof that the dog has been trained to be a
service animal. I'm not sure what medical documentation they want. If I
were you, I'd ask them what the medical documentation is and what regulation
they are basing their request upon. While I know you are doing this under
Fair Housing, it does not negate ADA where the definition of a service
animal is found. If you are filing a complaint you can make HUD aware that
they are making unreasonable requests because you do not need a prescription
for a service animal.
I know you know all this I'm just trying to put some of the wording that you
could use in your correspondence with your complex....which I would suggest
you do as it seems they may be trying to preclude you from having the
service animal. Hope that helps.
