[nagdu] Victim or Advocate?

exactly Cindy, we should have a choice in there areas. I have been to places with Maxx that I will not go again with, you have to decide if it is a good place for the dog or not. But like I said in my instance, my husband was going to be in an observation area far enough away, so the dolphins and the dog would not have been a bother to each other.

If you are swimming with the dolphins, what use is the dog to you in the water? I took a dog to the Everglades once and the guy said he would hold him while I went in the air boat. Spencer was the kind of dog who might decide to jump in the swampy river, so I said I would take him in that boat with me. That right was granted me; it was not the best for the dog. I had not been in one of those before and when they gave me ear protection, I had a feeling I had made a mistake. But that's different because then we are allowed to make the best choice for ourselves and the animal. I for one feel I did not make the best choice for mine.

The example Sheila gives of a dog wandering around a business is a good example of this. If we don't want to be denied access, we have to make sure that our guides are clean, quiet, and not disruptive to the goings-on of the establishment.

I think it's more that there are people who will find fault with every single thing that happens to them. You know, the kind of people for whom nothing is good enough. People who will have fifteen refusals in a year, living in a big city where most other people are lucky to have two or three.

I know of someone that would take a guide dog and let it walk around because oh It likes to see everyone but I was told by an employee of a buisness that the dog took off out of the door and she had to go catch the dog. They wondered why I didn't let my dog wander and I told them it was improper behavior and not to accept improper behavior like that.
