Yes, I completely agree with you Julie. I did ask Pilot Dogs about the
poodle they currently have and they told me they believe that the dog will
match my personality, at least from everything they've seen in my
application.

Hannah,

Speaking from the perspective of someone who is set on getting a Boxer guide
next time, I would caution you that wanting a poodle and a poodle being a
good fit for you as a guide dog may be two very different things. I don't
know you and I know next to nothing about poodles. I'm just saying that
there are a load of factors taken into consideration to make a good match
between handler and guide dog to make it work long
term. Me, personally, I'd rather have a terribly ugly dog that was a
phenomenal guide, than an adorable dog that was a horrid guide. Now if I
can get good looking and phenomenal all in one package, then I'm going for
it! *smile*

I've wanted a pure bred Boxer since I got Monty 3 years ago. Now since my
foot injury, I have no idea if a Boxer will be the best choice for me when
the time comes. I could always get a pet Boxer and a guide more suited to
my needs, but I'm still holding out hope that I can get Boxer and guide all
in one package.

Best,
Julie
