I think my second one came to love me; she did not feel comfortable working. She froze when she found someone or something was staring at her. I had had enough experience by that time to truly give her a lot of leeway and helped her as I could, but it wasn't enough.

And once you get a shepherd it really can be a pain to get them to love you ... my first shepherd never bonded with me but she did work for me but she never ever really liked me I don't think, she much prefered my boyfriend at the time. Now the shepherd I have now ... on most days she loves me except when it's time to brush her or clean her ears then it's debatable.

I longed for one, but as an instructor told me once, they have to decide they want to work for you. Neither of the ones I had did that, though the second one came closer. I would have loved one, and I've seen some mighty fine ones at work, too, but I wonder if these others are just a little more prepared for it personality wise sometimes. However, it isn't really so much the breed as the individual personality. I would love one because they have such a fluid gait.
