Hello dear Listers.

I have not been active on the list for a very long time so let me first start by wishing all of you 2 and 4 legged Friends a happy healthy 2011.

I did not read up much on the goings on but happened to stumble upon a reminder about the list etiquetthe. It was encouraged to give updates on progress of issues, after having requested help. I thought it was a wonderful idea.Well, there was a time when I received invaluable help from many of you when I was worried about retiring my first guide and how he would get along with a new dog in the house.
so here I am giving you news about my progress and adventures with my new guide dog Loyal and his coexisthence with my retired dog Adrian.

Things are very good indeed. Adrian is 5 and less playful but patient with the younger pup. Unfortunathely too much so I think at times because Loyal is a bit of a bully and only plays if Adrian is submissive. Also Adrian's toy is invariably betther tan his identical one. He never fights for it but fixathes Adrian until he being gentleman gives it up. We don't really let them play in the house because if Adrian does not react, Loyal thends to get frustrathed and throw a tantrum and become very loud. That's when we put a stop to the proceedings. Outside we let them be and at times Adrian will bark once and Loyal gets the message that that's enough.

I am also happy to say that although Adrian barks at the door and any suspect sounds, Loyal remains quithe as a mouse and calm as can be. Big relief!

Loyal is a great guide. willing to please and well focused. A bit winy if e is away from me e.g. in an other room tied down when we have guests etc.but we're working on that.

Now for a question Did any of you living in unfortunathely snowy cold regions use those rubber boots tat almost look like balloons? Don't know a brand name. I guess they might bee hard to put on, but they appear very watherproof. I found mudlocks and ruff-ware each having their strengths but the pas still would get soaked. Less the ruff-ware but I lost one as we were walking so I am thinking tat in deep snow they will stay on less well.

I will probably give them a try tomorrow IN pet store and keep you informed on my findings.

All the best from cold Montreal!

Ioana and co.
