[nagdu] soft sided crates

Hi Jennifer,
I was shopping for a soft sided dog crate last year. There are
all kinds of models for these crates. You can get them from pet
stores, but I found they are pricier, and while I only went to
one pet store, the crates they offered were not as portable. One
crate I looked at for example had a frame made of metal bars.
The crate I settled on though actually came from Wal-mart, and I
think it only cost $15 or $20. It is made of nylon and folds up
like a tent. It has a flap of netting that you pull up for the
dog to climb into it and you zip him into it like a tent. It
also has a little winded made of netting on each side.
You are absolutely right that having a soft crate will make life
a lot easier, especially when you take trips!
There is always the risk of the dog chewing on it or breaking out
of it, but my dog is so mellow and lazy I haven't had any of
those kinds of issues. The only trouble we had was the very
first time I introduced him to this crate, he didn't understand
that it was a crate, so I had to throw a treat into the crate to
coax him to climb into it. But like I said, after that we
haven't had any problems with the crate.
Hope this helps, and good luck with your crate shopping!
Allison and Gilbert

Subject: Re: [nagdu] soft sided crates
I'm curious about soft sided crates. Of what material are
they
made, and from where can you obtain them? My puppy is rapidly
outgrowing her plastic crate, and her big one is too cumbersome
to take
anywhere comfortably. So I'm thinking that a soft sided crate
may be a
good crate to have, unless she decides it would make an even
better chew
toy, that is!
Thanks,
Jennifer
