[nagdu] carrying white cane

I've used that pencil thin cane from ambutech in the same way and ended
up really loving it as a carry cane -- as I call it -- even to use
around the dog park while Mitz plays. So naturally I lost it and keep
not gettting around to getting a new one. /lol/ The telescoping NFB cane
also works well for the same purpose, but of course I haven't gotten
around to ordering a new one. Too much time hopping in the truck with
DD, who will also serve as a carry cane if I need one wherever we're
going, I guess. I always have a folding cane in the truck, just in
case, but they're full-length, full weight working canes, so a bit
awkarard to just carry around or try to fit in my small purse. Oh, well.
One of these days I'll remember to work getting a new lightweight
folding or telescoping cane into my budget and remember to order the
cane while I have the cash. The pencil cane is great for indoors because
it is so very light and thin for moving along above the ground locating
furniture without whanging it, something I always fear I will do with a
more robust working cane. /smile/ I have the mushroom tips on my folding
canes, except for one Advantage cane with a hiking tip, so they always
seem a bit noisy and clumsy for delicate indoor work. I love my straight
NFB white cane, but of course don't use it when I'm using the dog, so...
I feel like a klutz indoors, especially when we're visint people's homes
and I'm using the folding rollerball cane to orient around the house and
furniture. Mitzi on leash or off -- depending on whom we're visiting --
is surprisingly talented and clever at showing me the main points of
interest, but I like getting a more detailed feel for the furniture and
other decorative, breakable objects with the cane. /grin/
