Oh, you're not alone on having your dog blamed for untended waste. If
it's lying on the groulnd and a guide dog lives nearby, guess who did
it, and everybody knows that it is a true fact. I once had someone
threaten to call the police if my dog went on a public access grassy
spot. I ignored him after pulling my baggy out of my pocket and waving
it at him to demonstrate I was prepared for what she might do... Then I
just got to stand there letting my dog sniff around, trying to decide if
she had anything to do in that spot or not. . So that was fun. I was
almost disappointed when she decided she wasn't interested so that I
took our show on the road -- or around the block, where she found a
place more to her liking. I really wonder if he would have done it
while I was picking up, and what said cop would have made of the
matter. /evil grin/
I did once hear of a female guide dog -- spayed, natrually -- being
blamed by an entire neighborhood for a litter of puppies another female
dog produced unexpectedly. Guess it became quite a problem for the guide
dog handler, since the puppies were big news and the dog's siring of
them was something she got to hear about regularly. /lol/ I don't
recall the tale clearly, but I believe the puppies weren't even part
lab.
Still, if I never hear anyone yell at me again because my dog is always
leaving stuff I don't pick up, even if they've never seen the dog before
because we have never been there before, it will be too soon. What is up
with some people? lol/

It wasn't worth the hassle and now the manager has seen our dogs use the harnesses and knows that we are keeping up our part of the bargain.
