Dear Marion,

I'm so thrilled that NAGDU is giving a seminar on air travel, TSA security
procedures, and in-flight emergencies.

that talk might very well save the life of a guide dog team.

It could certainly make people feel more comfortable and confident in
getting on that plane with their new guide dog. And people using their
canes instead of dogs should go, too. What a great chance to talk with that
TSA disability policy rep!

Wish I could be there. I hope you'll write up a summary after convention.

The idea of the seminar makes me think of other challenging activities we
take on with our guide dogs every day that aren't taught in guide dog
school.

What about navigating with infants and small children?

What about emergency preparedness from blizzards to terrorist attacks, or
just seeing our guide dogs through those awful thunder storms?

Or house-hunting in a new city (do you take Juneau along when you're looking
over a home to buy)?

Or how about choosing clothing, upholstery fabrics, and flooring materials
that repel dog hair?

Or how about dating with guide dogs, deciding whether your guide dog needs a
canine playmate, taking your guide dog to the gym, or fending off aggressive
petters?

These would make great topics for articles on the NAGDU web page, or for a
talk-show podcast or Webinar.

Anyway, way to go, Marion. I love NAGDU.

Elizabeth

Wouldn't it be wonderful if a guide dog school could offer a graduate
