Dan,
I have also, when traveling throughout the country, left my cell phone
number with the front desk in the unlikely event anything unforeseen
should spook the dog, or, perhaps a cleaning person entered the room, and
fearing the dog ran out leaving the door open, thereby requiring my
immediate return to get the dog back into the room. Happily, despite my
cautious approach to things unforeseen, I have never gotten a call, nor a
complaint from any of the hotels I have stayed in, from the Hampton inn, to
the Hilton and beyond.

Ohm God, a dog barking, I've never heard of such a thing.
We can't have dogs barking hat would happen next!
That was meant as sarcasm, I know where you're coming from, Tracy.

I object to this policy. I object to the notion that I need special rules
and supervision because I choose to use a guide dog. It makes me feel
unwelcome at convention. Of course, I'd be perfectly welcome, if I
acknowledge that I need others to tell me how to handle my dog, or, better
yet, leave the smelly troublmaking beast at home.
So I will be spending my time, money, and energy in places where I will
actually be treated like an intelligent, responsible adult. Too bad that's
not the NFB convention.
Funny thing is, I bet Marion would object too, if it wasn't NFB leadership
decreeing it.
