You bet!  Mitzi is my number one friend finder and networking specialist!
If I had the tools to go freelance, I could have had a bunch of clients over
the past few years that she's introduced me to.  /grin/  In fact, I did
manage to do a minor job in this area that came to me through my Mitzi-based
network.

So I gave our state's VR agency another go, which was a big hassle and waste
of time, as usual. Once I had submitted my business plan and equipment
request and we were to go on to the step where they needed to start coughing
up tools, it turned out that I hadn't submitted the documents at all and so
on and so forth.  Guess they've never heard of an e-mail header?  Nor has
the CAP attorney, obviously.  Ugh!

Anyway, I did at one point attempt to explain more about how marketing works
in my field -- professional geek -- and that's it all about networking and
word of mouth.  So I tried listing the number of potential clients and
business contacts I had met through the dog park or in the course of going
about the city with my guide dog....

Didn't get me anywhere, of course.  I think my VRC accused me of being
disagreeable and changing the subject, etc., etc.  She was never clear what
she actually wanted in a market plan from me beyond letting me know, once I
had jumped through all the hoops, how much I sucked.  Oh, well.  I've made
lots of good friends and professional contacts anyway, even if it's not
bringing money.  I still like to talk shop when I can, and it gives me a
chance to keep an eye on the local market for future reference.

So does that make Mitzi my marketing research assistant, too?  /grin/

Hello again!

 

This question popped on my mind heavily this afternoon.  I've just started a
virtual paralegal services company, so I've had to do some heavy lifting
with marketing and networking.  This was something I've always done, but
this is the first time to this degree since losing my sight three years ago.

 

What I didn't realize is that I've added a secret weapon to my
arsenal....Ms. Gypsy!  I think she hypnotizes people or something because
everyone becomes mush in her little paws.

 

I've gotten lots of leads and even an office space that I wanted to lease
offered to me....because of Gypsy!!!

 

Has there been some unexpected way that your guide has helped you?
