I have been asked to assist with developing a standardized training program and manual for first responders across New York state. My part is to focus primarily on people who are blind and visually impaired. Please take a moment to take a look at this and fill it out. I have been waiting a while for this to be developed into an accessible survey before I would ask anyone to fill it out. I would appreciate it if you could all pass it on to other people who can help get it out to as many blind people as possible.
Please be aware that this is only for New York state residence.

Niagara University has received a NYS DDPC grant to develop the disability awareness training for first responders across the state of New York. This project has been well received by the associations, councils, and academies that represent police, fire and EMS across NYS.
The survey link below is for individuals with disabilities who have had either good or bad experiences with First Responders. If you are a service provider who has witnessed first hand an interaction or situation you may also fill this out or assist an individual, if need be.
A parent survey and first responder survey has already been circulated in an attempt to capture their input.

I ask that you forward this on to your contacts.

As we move forward with this project, we will be asking individuals and agencies to inform us of best practices, incidents, or situations so we can track them.
Our website, currently in development, is www.fr-dat.com.

This survey will close June 24th

thank you for your assistance
Dave
