[nagdu] Restaurant ordered service dog to lobby

Dan and Buddy,

Agreed, all the way. Alaw with no penalties or enforcement is just a lot
of words on paper. Those who choose to follow it because it is the law
are good citizens. Those who aren't good citizens... So long as they
don't get hurt, it doesn't matter to them. If all humans were good
citizens by nature, we would not need laws in the first place, though,
would we? Maybe some general guidelines or suggestions, but laws? Jails?
Courts? Probably they wouldn't really be necessary, since good citizens
tend to be responsible, respectful and socially aware. All that kind of
stuff. It's the not so good citizens we need the laws for, with
specified ways to apply those laws so that an individual who breaks them
knows something bad will come their way if they break the law. Or so it
seems to me, even though I'm being a little black and white and
toungue-in-cheek.

So, for someone like this restaurant manager, she can just go on having
no regrets, planning to do it again, as she apparently has before. Why
wouldn't she? According to her, this is common practice; nobody else
complains about being so discriminated against, according to her... Why
should this wounded warrior cause trouble for her by making a fuss when
everyone else is okay with it. And so on.

Well, the wounded vet took his business elsewhere and contacted the
press, so that may bring economic hardship to the restaurant and the
manager in question. Good for him!

Will other such business owners and managers and their ilk learn a thing
from this incident about the importance of obeying the law? Ha!

Yesterday evening, my mobile groomer, who also owns a couple of
restaurants, was talking about a call he got from one of his employees
when two women showed up with guide dogs. The employee was all in a huff
and bother because the health inspector was there. So my groomer said,
"...So? ..." /lol/ When the poor, confuddled employee asked what to do,
he said, "Let them in and serve them." /lol/ D'oh! So when the employee
asked about what to do if the health inspector caused a problem because
of the dogs, the answer was, "Let her! I'l slap her up side of the head
with the ADA so hard she won't know what hit her!"

I really liked that story /lol/ Some people just choose to follow the
law and thus refuse to violate another citizen's civil rights just
because it's what they think they should do.

We did get to go on and discuss some of the changes to the ADA and such
while he cut my poodle down to size. /smile/
