Hi, Rhonda,
Congrads to you and Mya being your first guide dog from Pilot Dogs.
May the two of you have many more working years together.
Odie was my third guide dog, but the second one through Pilot Dogs directly.
He's an eight-year-old hybrid German black lab with a rottwiller's head and 
a long-gated hinge like jaw which I call it the pit bull's mouth.
He worked as my guide dog for five and a half years from March 28, 2005 to 
September, 2010 last year.
he retired due to degenerative disc disease.
I'm in the process of doing a refresher mobility course and hopefully after 
it's all said and done, I can train at GDF for my next successor dog.
They turned me down the first time, claiming that I didn't have good 
orientation and mobility skills.
If me doing the refresher doesn't work out and I'm still rejected, then i'll 
have to result into owner training.
As for Odie, he's now a medical alert service dog since he's medically saved 
my husband's life three times in a row.
