Hi, all,
Just wanted to update everyone again in reference of my service dog case.
I directly went down to the Colorado cross Disability Coalision earlier this
morning.
I was supposed to meet with Jaime Lewis, but he wasn't in yet, so ended up
talking with Peter, another representative and Julie Riskin, another
representative.
I had them made a copy of the so-called pet rules from my apartment complex
as well as the reasonable accomodation medical letter from my PCP, Doctor
Jeremy Long.
I had other important pieces of documents too, but Julie told me they
weren't needed, but it didn't hurt for me to have them anyway, especially
since I had Dale put them on my flash drive.
Julie Riskin told me the document which I brought in to proove that my
apartment complex created isn't a real document and she said that it is an
illegal, falsified document too.
The Colorado Cross Disability Coalision is willing to help me out upon
filing a complaint with the Colorado Civil Rights Division, but I do have to
pay a $25.00 membership fee next Tuesday which I feel that it is fair.
Julie Riskin told me that she didn't feel I should fight this battle alone
and that it would be best for them to step in and help me out.
So, next Tuesday, my husband Dale will have the bank make a money order for
CCDC so this can be dealt with, not just for me, but to ensure others don't
have to go through what I'm having to put up with.
More than likely, there may be a possibility of this being taken to court,
but I figure there are other important steps to follow first before all of
that.
My next project after that will be to try and figure out why the Colorado
Service Dog Law here in Colorado isn't well-known here in Colorado, despite
that it's on Denver Gov's web site and another one I came across.
I was given an membership application from Peter today while at CCDC's
office and will have it filled out before next week.
In the back of the application is a release form that I also have to sign so
they can immediately launch the complaint upon contacting the manager of my
apartment complex and even Colorado HUD (Housing Urban development) out here
to speak with them as well.
I'm going to let Julie Riskin know that if they'd like to put my
discrimination case on the news media, I have no problem with it one bit.
My hopes are that if it has to go to being on the news, those who are
landlords of properties or have businesses will learn immediately from this
that discrimination such like this one will not be tolerated.
If there are other developments further down the road, I'll be sure to keep
everyone up to date.
Bibi and Odie
the happy spirited bounty labra wolf
