Hi, Cheryl,
I do hope your boy will get past that ear infection.
They are nasty as Odie did cause a nasty vacterial infection in his left ear 
one time by scratching it when he went to move the flop.
Although he still doesn't like his ears being cleanned out because the drops 
are cold, Dale and I usually use food for positive reinforcement.
Other times, we give him his toy or ostrick bone to chew on so he's 
distracted.
Sometimes, I will take Odie's ear flops and flip them inside out so the 
moisture and ear wax don't stay trapped in the canals.
