I don't think so.  It appeared in too many forms with no indication it was
meant as humorous.

Yours is the first suggestion I have ever seen that satire was the intent.
So, if it was to be a satirical piece it failed tremendously.  Also, as you
can see from the reactions of many on this list over the years it was and is
offensive to them.  I do not find it offensive, but rather I think is simply
useless.

Here is another thought.  Might someone have circulated it to seek responses
in order to request money?  I don't think so, but it is a thought.

Not to offend Michael here but did anyone ever consider that this piece in
its initial iteration was meant as satire? That's how I took it when I first
saw it 10 years ago. I do appreciate satire both good and not so good. I'll
reserve judgment on this piece.
