Yes, people will be charged with both assault and battery, depending on how 
severe injury is and if individual who is hurt ends up in ER or admittance 
to the hospital directly.
Although I haven't finished my degree in Criminal Justice, I've been able to 
learn and study a lot and during my classes, assault and battery happened to 
be one of the discussions.
