Mark, I am wondering why you wouldn't just want to take your vet's word for it. Certainly, antibiotics can be effective that quickly, but if you quit taking them before the time prescribed, the illness can come back in an even more virulent state. I would say that the medication is probably very effective and will be good for the dog to take that long.
