Hi Mark,
You may want to try soaking the pills in water that's over his food.  I used 
to pill Liam as well as my previous guide, Whitney, with the push down the 
throat, but I've found the method of soaking the pill in Liam's food is a 
lot more amicable.  Hope that helps, and continued prayers for that furry 
big boy.
