Mardi,

Tipton sounds absolutely lovely!  she's my kind of girl, lots of spirit 
and personality!

I think people with ill behaved dogs say nothing in explanation or 
apology because they are embarrassed. Maybe I'm wrong and they are 
actually exceptionally rude, but I find thinking that they are 
embarrassed helps me to feel a bit more kindly towards them and not 
shout obscenities!  *smile*
