[nagdu] walking in to objects

Hannah,
Hm... In some senses, it will take time, as your girl continues to
mature and gain experience.
Meanwhile... It may also take some work on your part and hers. Finding
out the key to communicating effectively with her on the subject can
take some observation and creativity at times... I once heard, and this
has been my experience, that the way to train a poodle is to learn how
to convince the poodle what you want her to do is actually her idea.
/lol/ It's a little simplistic, but true nonetheless. Very like Arabian
horses that way, so I have prior experience with that sort of thing. An
Arabian will go to the ends of the earth for you... But only if he/she
thinks you're worthy enough for him/her to choose to do that for you.
Once you find the secret key, it's all good. Until then... War!
Mitzi has been a lot like many of the Arabians I've known... Once I
found the key, and so long as I maintain proper balance in work/play and
life, she is terrific. We're on another prolonged visit to the small
town where my Dad lives, and she's had a limp so I only started doing
working walks with her yesterday, which she loved. But around the house
and yard, the effects of all the attention I've been giving the puppy,
along with the disruptions to daily life and my really pushing on my
work and professional development while we're still living over in the
Portland area have shown up in one really snotty poodle. I get the
message, since she is pretty direct: If you're not going to pay
attention to me, I'm not going to pay attention to you! /lol/ Okay, so
I've been making sure to give her plenty of attention and have also
taken her back to more leash training. Message? If you're not going to
act like a trained dog, then I'm going to treat you like and untrained
one. /lol/ She seems to be deciding to get back on track with obedience,
so is getting more freedom. Silly poodle!
