[nagdu] MARTINGALE COLLARS

Larry has a nylon choke - a section of rolled nylon with a ring on each end.
This is used just like a chain choke.

The martingale collar is different and I got mine at the Humane Society. It
is made of flat nylon like a flat buckle collar. Only there's a small nylon
loop that has the ring to attach the leash to. The collar will partially
tighten around the dog's neck but not all the way like a regular choke
collar.

Martingale collars are sort of like a hybrid traditional choke and a flat
collar. Many training programs use these collars and are getting away from
regular chain chokes. Supposed to be more humane on the dog. The smaller
loop can be nylon or chain. The ones issued by GDB have nylon and chain.

These collars were called a "greyhound collar" in the past because the dog
can't pull our of this collar. Greyhoounds have a small head and a thicker
neck and they are known to slip out of regular buckle collars.
