Hannah,

>From one first-time Pilot grad to another, our dogs aren't perfect. Motley
makes mistakes and he is still learning. We're still learning about each
other. You and Princess are still bonding as a team and it can take you guys
six months to a year to become a good solid team. It depends on how well
you've bonded. Give it time and make your corrections firm, fast, fair and
forgotten.

Best,

Chantel and Pilot Dog Motley

Hey all,
Just wanted to keep you updated, Princess seems to be doing better with the
new food although she is still having the mixture of both plus water which
seems to be doing some amazing work!
Now to the fun part, and please don't think I'm finding every reason to
complain about my dog because I'm not; it's just that I've never had any
pets in my life and as much as Princess is a working dog, she is still a dog
with many pet dog behaviors. I feel like we are bonding very well, and I
adore her dearly, but there are things I don't think should happen when
we're out and about.
My point is that she can get super easily distracted by small animals such
as a cat or a squarrel. Believe me, I've done a lot of correction work, but
there have been a few times where she doesn't seem to realize I'm there;
it's just her and whatever she's staring at. There were times I've literally
had to drag her away which I don't think is particularly safe to do.
I've done some work with her where I set things up, but she knows she is
being set up to do it and she does it well.
Does anyone else seem to have trouble in this area?
It seems to me that everyone on the list has amazing dogs, and I feel like
all I do is complain about mine... hopefully I'm not expecting too much from
Princess.
Best, Hannah
