If it is a driveway, especially for a business, it may be worthwhile to
stop anyway, not o much to check to see if you are centered, but more to
listen for vehicles entering or exiting that driveway.  

But as for being very centered, most dogs are pretty good about keeping
away from the edge.  In fact, some will hug the building line to put as
much distance between the edge as is possible.
