[nagdu] Introduction

I know this. And I've always wondered why people in the 1930's got dogs too. Some of it I'm sure had to do with that cane travel as we know it hadn't been invented, so the dog was probably a lot easier. 
If anybody from the 1930's is around, I'd love to ask this question of them. 
I asked my question of the woman from Sweeden because I really am curious. Is she at a point in her life where she is in a position to be a kind of protestor? Do canes not exist? Or is she like Janice Joplin where she feels that she's got nothing to loose anyway so why not do what she wants? 
I truly am curious. 
Are cane users in Sweeden treated better then dog users? Her post seems to suggest yes.

Wow.

The law and the public didn't necessarily have our back in the 1930's, or, indeed, later. That shift happened gradually, and with no small amount of effort on the part of guide dog users and those who *did* have our collective backs. Why should it be any different for people in countries who aren't so far along this path as we now are? This stuff didn't happen overnight nor digit happen in a vacuum.
