Hi All,
I've been on this list for several years back when I had my yellow Lab,
Jacob. Some of you may remember when i had him - from Sept 1999 to Oct
2007. I got word that he passed away last Monday (Dec 3rd) at the ripe old
age of 14. He would have been 15 this past Thursday, Dec 13th.

Jake was living here in San Diego County with a lady who goes to the church
I used to attend. She told me that Jake was fairly healthy up until very
recently and he died at home on his own.

When I started to go to the church in 2000, this lady and Jake had a thing
for each other. She told me that Jake would peek out from under the pew at
her - especially if she arrived a bit late to services! LOL! She wanted to
adopt him when he retired. Wwell, she had to wait til October of 2007 -
seven years - to get him and he joined her family which now included a
rescue German Shepherd and her husband. Her grown children and their
families enjoyed Jake as well.

When I talked to this lady today, she was still sad and we talked for a long
time. She asked me to keep her in mind when I retire Landon and I said I
would. Jake and Landon met only once in 2008 when Jake came to the Naval
hospital to be photographed with the team members of the pet assisted
therapy we did there. Jake outlasted the other three dogs in that program
and not the program is gone. Landon had two years in the program with one
of the original dogs and another new guide. I last saw Jake when the lady
brought him to church one Sunday in 2008.

How quickly time goes by. Landon had his seventh birthday on Nov 20th. He
has a white face now but is still young at heart!
