Hannah,
I just wanted to let you know that whether or not you take the harness
off to go through security is entirely your choice. The security TSA
people cannot make you take the harness off. Having said that, if you
choose to leave it on it will most certainly set the metal detector
off. Depending on how exactly you went through with your guide, this
may mean that one or both of you get the pat down security check.
Different people have differing comfort levels with this.
From previous discussions on this topic, most people have the dog sit
and stay. Then the person walks through the metal detector holding onto
only the end of the dog's leash. Once the person is clear, they call
the dog to them. Probably this will set off the alarm. The TSA agent
should only pat down the person/dog who set off the alarm. They are
supposed to wear gloves and they are supposed to tell you what they are
doing. You will remain in contact with your guide at all times.
Flying is the easy part. Security is the headache. *smile*
