Hi rj I got a dog partially because my husband thought it would be a good idea, but mostly I got one because we lived in a neighborhood where the corners aren't straight across from each other and I was having trouble crossing streets straight and people tended to park boats across their driveways and my cane slipped underneath one and I hit it at chest level. I still knows how to use a cane but enjoy the companionship with a dog.
