[nagdu] Dog food

I keep my dogs on tie downs or in crates (including pets) at night always. I have always tied the Seeing Eye dogs down. I don't in hotel rooms because sometimes it is hard to find something to attach him to.

I live in a dorm room, so, there is also the potential of a roommate accidentally letting him out. My dorm room is as dog proof as it can be, however, with his chewing abilities, one never knows. I'll let him off tie down once I trust him more.

>> Hi Mark,
>> Destiny had also chewed through her tiedown in the first month that I was home from GDF. It was similar to what you described a steel cord that was plastic coated that had a loop on one end and the other end had a "carabiner" to attach the dog's collar to the tie down (I'm having a mental block about what that endpiece is called). I decided to not use the tie down at night and it has not been a problem except for those few times when she's been sick. I found out the hard way by stepping in her vomit. Luckily that hasn't happened for several years since she's been on medication for her inflammatory bowel disease.

During the day, my dog is allowed to Rome free around my dorm room; however, when I am asleep I put him on tie down so that I know he won't be getting into mischief. He had other plans. While I was asleep, my dog bit his tie down in half. This is not a wimpy tie down from a pet store, but instead the one provided by the school. It is made of a strong braided cable with some sort of plastic coating. One end has an "I splice" in it, and the other has a strong swivel hook. I rap this cable around my bed post, feeding the swivel hook end threw the loop created by the "I splice." My dog bit this cable in half at some point during the night.

When your dog does finally manage to chew through the top layer of rubber, you can send it in for a replacement. They come in rubber rings and rubber sticks. They come in green and black, with the black being more durable.
