Hanna,
Are you legally an adult?
I ask because if you are, you are free to change your mind. It's done all the time, marriage, jobs, houses, cities, you name it.
Do you have a legally binding contract with this training program, i.e. they pay for your schooling and you agree to work for them for x number of years?
Even so, you can usually pay some amount of money and be released from the contract.

How would this program handle it if say you got pregnant and needed to put the course on hold so you could care for a child?
I'd pose all these questions to the director.
What I'm getting at is they can't make you stay, and if you feel that now is time for a dog, well, then now is time for a dog. Nobody else gets a vote.

But you have already started it, haven't you? Also, there are other things at stake--like who might be waiting to come, etc. I don't know their procedures.
