I think that it is important, especially when talking to someone who has never had a guide dog, to remember that there are certain things that guide dogs tend to do better than others. For example, I think that a guide dog is more likely to not clear an overhead object than he/she is to run down stairs without stopping. I may be wrong, but this is just my two cents, especially when it is the difference in a cane and a guide dog.
