[nagdu] remembering June 14, 2009

I'm glad I live in San diego with an occasional earthquake. We have had
some water spouts here at times and one time it came on shore and did minor
damage to a nearby building.

The closest to a tornado I ever was was in Cambridge, Mass in 1972. My
friend and I were walking to the subway in Cambridge and the rain was
pouring, the wind was blowing, and the sky had this greenish gray look to it
with roiling clouds. We got totally soaked - wasn't too bad since it was
summertime. When wwe watched the news that night, we heard that there was a
tornado in Newton, a nearby town. Of course, the tornados in New England
are nothing like the ones you Midwesterners get.

During our walk in the storm that day, my friend's guide dog took it all in
stride. I had my pet dog - the one who learned some guiding from the guide
dog - with me and he was fine as well.

Good boy, Odie! You have your own tornado siren!
