Hi everyone!

It is great to be home... I've been home since Sunday; however, I've been
busy getting Aiken settled into my home, and he's already got privileges
since I live in a very small apartment, and he's so well-behaved.

Aiken is a labrador retriever / golden retriever cross, 24.5 inches at the
withers and 66 pounds. He is a creamy-coloured boy, with a very curly tail
when he's happy and has the golden feathers on his tail. He has the msot
soft ears I've ever felt in my hands as well! He has the softness of a
golden's fur, but short hair like a lab. At first, I didn't like how his
guiding style was like, as he bounces from side to side compared to a
labrador's bounce up and down, which was the case in my previous guides. His
pull while going at a good clip is *FANTASTIC*. His guidework is phenemonal!

Since coming home, we are still ironing out his relieving schedule, as I
have to walk a block to the grassy area as my complex doesn't have an
appropriate area for a large-breed dog to relieve (theya llow small breed
dogs in the complex; however, my land lord when the building was built ...
brand new building I'm living in.... didn't consider a releiving area for
the dogs if it is a pet-friendly apartment!). This morning, he attempted to
relieve in a middle of a crossing--NOT GOOD-- luckily, as I was doing
banking, GDB had called to do a follow up call to see how things were going
and did mention to my field manager, Charles Nathan, the concern and I'd be
mroe than happy to keep him posted as I work on remedying the situation. It
will iron out in time; otherwise, his guide work is nothign but stellar. He
has great iniatitive, with some cheer leading in certain situations, but he
certainly will be a great guide to have at my side for years to come!

Just wanted to update everyone how everything is going with my "miracle
dog". Oh...

Miracle dog? Ah, yes, he was born on November 3, 2010, just right before the
parvo outbreak in the GDB kennels, and Aiken's whole litter had a positive
test for parvo, and he survived it, his whole litter did, actually. He also
had to have surgery in his salivary glands for a foxtail as well. So,
miracle boy is one of his nick names. Aiken's sister, Ardella, is pregnant
and will give birth to a couple of "nieces and nephews". Another dog, is an
ambassador dog for GDB, two other siblings is still in formal training. All
around fantastic and successful litter!!!

Good to be home... no more traveling for me please?! LOL!
