[nagdu] Swabbing for Explosive Trace Detection

I've read that certain materials can leave the same traces as explosives, I believe paper towels are one such material.
Anybody know if this is true? Maybe she wiped the dog with a paper towel?
I can see why they'd separate person and dog in this case. Was it done in a manner that you understood what was happening? Were you given the choice of keeping your dog with you but not flying on that scheduled flight?

Could you have insisted on going with the dog? Because they always say you are not to be separated from your dog, so if your dog had traces, I should think that you should have to go together as a team. How could the dog have traces of explosives on it?
